Graphic Design class project.
Objective: Create a cover for a literary book, which inspires you.
This was an amazing project that I got to make. My first choice in book automatically fell on Alice in Wonderland. For all those who know me know that I have an actual obsession with this story and its creative art that fills it. I don’t know how it started but since a young age I always wanted to watch trippy cartoons which my parents didn’t like at all, and upset my other siblings. Starting with the old Betty Boop cartoons ,re-watching them now still amaze me but I understand what my parents thought. Alice in Wonderland followed short after and has left me intrigued by mirrors, colors and crazy stories which turn everything upside-down.
Staying close to silhouette art I created a black cover with loads of color to represent her journey with silhouettes of different aspects of the story and things/characters she meets. Holding a special place for the Caterpillar, above the mushroom, and epic image of Alice and Wonderland that everybody recognizes.
The hardest bit was to fit the cover together in Indesign and make an actually cover, printing it out on A2 paper format with a photo glaze over it. After it was printed I covered another book I owned with the same dimensions to make it look like an actual book cover.
