Mark of the Maker is a collaboration between Hamish Blair and Nina Willebois as part of their final year at Plymouth College of Art BA (Hons) graphic design. They chose nine phrases of two words and split them between the two. Hamish and Nina worked independently on their individual words, only revealing them to each other at the end of the project. No chang- es or adjustments have been made to them since. This is the result, entitled Mark of the Maker.
Inspiration:
Inspired by poet Kate Camp collaboration with Sarah Maxey and Kris Sowersby. Kate chose several two-word phrases and provided each collaborator with one half of each phrase. They then worked separately to illustrate their words, without fully understanding the context. Finally, the phrases where paired together as a series of postcards, which is now available for sale as a set through Village.
